7th Dec 2019 – Posture & Balance

St Anthony Of Padua Catholic Church Hall 115 Headley Way, Oxford OX3 7SS

Posture and Balance is the position in which you hold your body upright against gravity. Proper posture and balance keep your joints, muscles, and organs in the correct alignment, so they can function optimally against the stress of gravity. Good posture is proper distribution of weight around the body causing as little stress to the supporting bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscle during lying, sitting standing and walking. Balance is an important longevity practice and should be maintained and improved.

In this workshop, we will look at ways of improving our posture and balance.
*This allows for efficiency of energy and movement
*decreased wear and tear of the joints
*Poor posture might lead to problems with breathing and digestion
*Good posture involves the whole body.
*Which muscles are overactive and tend to tighten?
*Which muscles are underactive and prone to weakening?
*Imbalance of muscle tone causes joint misalignment and pain
*Fixing this can have a massive impact on alleviating joint pain.
*Improving posture & balance will promote healing of injuries and prevent injuries
